Overview
What this piece is
A white stole embroidered with the Star of Bethlehem linked by a gold line to the Magi's three gifts, gold, frankincense and myrrh, and a camel caravan near the hem.
Worn for the Feast of the Epiphany and the Christmastide services around it.
Symbolism
A gold line runs down each panel linking the star the Magi followed to the three gifts tradition holds they carried: gold in a crowned chest, frankincense in the censer, myrrh in the covered urn.
The camel caravan near the hem stands for the journey itself.

Details
About this stole
The White and Gold Epiphany Stole tells the Epiphany story down each panel: a gold Star of Bethlehem at the top, then a crowned treasure chest, a blue jewelled censer trailing smoke, and a covered urn, all linked by one flowing gold line, ending near the hem in the silhouette of a camel caravan.
Design and symbolism
Where many gold-on-white stoles keep to a single thread colour, this one is worked in a full palette: royal blue for the censer, burgundy and green for the urn, brown shading in the caravan, gold for the star, chest and connecting line. The sequence follows the gifts tradition gives to the Magi, gold, frankincense and myrrh, shown here as a crowned chest of coins, a smoking censer and a covered vessel, rather than as three robed kings. The camel caravan at the base of the design stands for the journey they made. The wavy gold line reads almost like a path across the panel, tying five separate motifs into one continuous journey rather than a set of isolated emblems. No cross or emblem is worked at the neckline; the design begins with the star itself.
Liturgical use
White and gold is worn for the Feast of the Epiphany, on 6 January or the Sunday appointed for it, and through the Christmastide services around it. It is not a stole for the violet weeks of Advent that precede it, nor for Lent or a funeral Mass, both of which take a different colour.
Who it is for
Cut for a priest, pastor or minister taking the Epiphany liturgy, in the presbyteral style worn straight down both shoulders. Its narrative design also suits a parish that wants a stole to preach from in a Twelfth Night homily.
Length and fit
Standard finished length is 120 in (305 cm), measured end to end over the shoulders. A made-to-measure length from 84 in to 120 in costs the same as standard; beyond 120 in, $10 is added for every further 5 in, up to 160 in. Enter a height in the box on this page for a suggested length, or give us your own. Your length, height and any notes carry through to the cart, checkout and order.
