The Clergy Couture

Vesture made with the dignity the office deserves

A vestment is a working garment that happens to be seen by everyone in the building. It has to be correct before it is beautiful: the right cut for the rite, the right colour for the day, the right emblem worked into the orphrey rather than approximated.

We make for Roman Catholic, Anglican, Lutheran, Methodist and Orthodox use, and ship anywhere a parcel can be tracked.

  1. Designed with dignityTraditional forms drawn properly, without novelty for its own sake.
  2. Symbolism worked, not printedCrosses, monograms and emblems embroidered by hand into the orphrey.
  3. Cloth chosen for the altarSatin for chasubles, dalmatics and stoles, with velvet orphreys on selected chasubles.

Questions, answered

Before you order

Ask a question
FitHow do I know it will fit?

Our measuring guide sets out what to measure and how to measure it, and you can send an existing garment for us to copy instead if that is easier. If a piece does not fit when it arrives we alter it, and if it cannot be altered we replace it.

OrderingHow long will my order take?

Most orders are dispatched within 5 to 7 days, in standard sizes and made to measure alike. International delivery then typically takes a further 10 to 15 days once the parcel is dispatched; see our shipping policy for each region.

Where a garment needs longer, we confirm the completion date in writing before you pay. If you need something for a particular ordination, installation or feast, say so in your first message and we will tell you honestly whether it can be done rather than promising and hoping.

SeasonsWhen should I order for a season?

Earlier than feels necessary. Vestments for a season need to be in the sacristy before it begins, not during it, and Advent, Lent, Easter and Pentecost all fall on a fixed date you can plan against.

MaterialsWhat fabrics do you use?

Satin for chasubles and dalmatics, with velvet orphreys on some chasubles. Stoles are made in satin, damask-textured cloth or velvet-look cloth; cassocks are cotton, and religious habits are cotton or wool. Each product page names the cloth used for that piece.

TraditionDo you make for traditions other than Roman Catholic?

Yes. We make for Roman Catholic, Anglican and Episcopal, Lutheran and Methodist use, and the differences matter to us: tell us the tradition a garment is for and we will follow its terminology, cut and colours rather than assume. See pastor and minister apparel, or our colour guide for where the traditions diverge.

DeliveryDo you ship internationally, and what about duties?

We ship worldwide with tracking on every parcel: $25 on orders under $200, and free on orders of $200 or more. Parcels travel duties unpaid, so any import duty or tax your country charges is collected from you by the carrier, not included in our price. Our shipping policy has the detail.

ReturnsWhat if it is not right when it arrives?

Unworn standard-size pieces can be returned within 15 days of delivery if you change your mind. Made-to-measure, personalised and custom-embroidered pieces are personal to one wearer and cannot be returned for a change of mind, so they are covered by the fit promise instead: we alter the garment, or replace it.

If we have made a mistake against your order or the design you approved, we correct it at our cost. The refund policy sets out how to start a return.
