Overview
What this piece is
An ivory satin gothic chasuble with a navy night-sky orphrey: the Star of Bethlehem, the angel, the shepherds with their flock, and the stable at the hem.
For Christmas night and the Christmas season. Offered in four standard sizes, or tailored to your own measurements; Made to Measure is priced the same as Extra Large.
Symbolism
The scene follows Luke 2:8-14: shepherds keeping watch by night, the angel of the Lord, and the good news of a Saviour born in the city of David.
The lamb on the front points beyond the manger to Christ, the Lamb of God.

An ivory satin gothic chasuble for Christmas night, with a navy orphrey that reads like the sky over Bethlehem. On the back, the star shines above the angel of the Lord, the shepherds stand with their flock, and the stable glows at the hem; on the front, the star's rays fall on a single lamb in the hills.
The embroidery
The back orphrey opens with a large eight-pointed star in gold-coloured thread, scattered with smaller stars. Beneath it the angel appears with spread wings, and lower down two shepherds, one with his crook, look up from their sheep on the green hillside. At the hem, under a crescent moon, the small stable of Bethlehem shows Mary, Joseph and the Child.
On the front, the star sends long golden rays down the navy column to a white lamb standing on rolling hills, and the stable sits at the hem beneath a field of stars. Both orphreys are edged in gold-coloured braid, and the hem is bound to match.
Liturgical use
Ivory belongs to the white class. This chasuble is made for the Christmas season, above all the Mass during the Night and the Mass at Dawn, the Shepherds' Mass, and for the octave, the Holy Family and the Epiphany. Being white-class, it is also correct on any day that calls for white.
Cut and construction
Full gothic cut, wide across the shoulders and falling in a deep curve over the arms, with no fastening. The body is smooth ivory satin with a soft sheen; the orphreys are navy satin worked with gold-coloured, white and coloured thread.
