Details
About this cassock
A red cassock robe with a navy shoulder yoke and gold piping, cut to pair with a navy stole worked in gold anchors over an open Bible.
The cut
The robe is a straight full-length cassock closing down the centre front, with a shaped navy yoke across the shoulders and collar that comes to a shallow point at the centre back. Gold piping edges the yoke and returns as a fine band above each cuff. There is a flapped hip pocket marked with a small gold anchor. The skirt is cut full enough to move in, with a centre vent through the back. Sleeves are long and straight. No belt, no hood.
The stole
The matching stole is navy, edged in gold on both long sides, and carries a gold anchor set over an open book low on each tail. The anchor is the oldest surviving Christian symbol of hope, taken from the letter to the Hebrews, and paired with the Bible it reads as hope grounded in scripture. A third motif sits at the neck.
Cloth and finish
Both pieces are made in cotton with a matte face. The red is a clear scarlet rather than a wine, which is what makes it correct for Pentecost, and the navy yoke gives the shoulders a definition that a tone-on-tone yoke would lose. Gold piping ties the two together without adding bulk at the seam.
Robe only, or robe and stole
The Style dropdown decides what ships. Robe Only is the red cassock with its navy yoke, gold piping and anchor pocket. Robe + Stole adds the anchor and Bible stole shown in the photographs and adds $80 at every size code. The photographs show the pair.
Who wears it
Red is the colour of Pentecost, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, the martyrs' feasts, and ordination and confirmation across the Western calendar. The anchor also carries a long association with seafaring and port ministry, which makes this pairing a natural choice for maritime chaplains and for services of hope and remembrance. It suits priests, pastors and ministers.
Size and fit
The robe is cut to fourteen graded size codes, each pairing a chest measurement with a finished length. S covers a 34-37in chest, M 38-41in, L 42-45in, XL 46-49in and 2XL 50-53in; the number after the letter is the robe length in inches from the nape of the neck to the hem. Made to Measure is priced at the same step as the L sizes and cut to your own figures.
