Overview
What this piece is
A navy stole with one large eagle spanning both panels, one wing naturalistic and one in full rainbow gradient, an olive branch beneath its talons.
For ordination, installation and special services.
Symbolism
The eagle recalls Isaiah 40:31, on strength renewed for those who wait on the Lord, a text often used at ordinations. The olive branch beneath its talons is a long-standing sign of peace.

Details
About this stole
A single large eagle spans both panels of this navy stole, its wings and body rendered in careful naturalistic detail on one side and in a full rainbow gradient on the other - two very different treatments of the same bird, meeting at the centre seam. It can be tailored to your own length.
Design and symbolism
Read across both panels together, the eagle is worked with one wing in tan, cream, brown and blue thread that follows a real eagle's feather pattern, and the other wing in a bright rainbow gradient running from purple through blue, green, yellow, orange to red at the tip. The bird's head, body and gold-outlined talons continue the naturalistic side, and a small olive branch sits beneath the talons near the base of the design. The title of this piece nods to Isaiah 40:31, "they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles" - a text long used at ordinations and installations to speak of strength renewed for ministry. The rainbow wing is a deliberate departure from a strictly naturalistic eagle, and reads as a contemporary, inclusive variation on that same verse rather than as a separate symbol. There is no fringe; the edges are finished plain with gold piping, and the back panels are left undecorated.
Liturgical use
Navy blue is not a Roman Rite colour. Where blue is used liturgically at all, it is generally a lighter Sarum or Advent blue in some Anglican parishes, or a Marian blue by custom in Catholic use for feasts of Our Lady; this stole's navy is neither of those, and is best understood as a special-occasion colour rather than a calendar one. That suits its design: this is an ordination and installation piece, not a stole tied to a Sunday in the church year.
Who it is for
Cut as a presbyteral stole for a pastor, minister or priest, it is built for a single significant day - ordination, installation, or another special service - rather than for regular rotation through the liturgical seasons. Its scale and detail suit a wearer who wants a stole that reads as a statement piece.
Length and fit
Standard finished length is 120 in (305 cm) end to end over the shoulders, with any made-to-measure length from 84 in to 120 in priced the same as standard. Beyond 120 in, $10 is added for every further 5 in, up to 160 in. The height box on this page will suggest a length once you enter your height, though you can enter your own figure instead; the length, height and any notes you give travel through to your cart, checkout and order.
