Overview
What this piece is
Ivory damask clergy stole with a compact star, lily and manger scene on each panel.
For Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services.
Symbolism
The star stands for the star of Bethlehem that led the magi to the manger. The lilies flanking the scene echo the purity of the Nativity, and the manger itself is the plainest sign of Christ's birth among ordinary people.

Details
About this stole
The Nativity Clergy Stole sets a small scene rather than a running vine: a gold star with radiating rays above, white lilies at either side, and a gold manger cradling a swaddled figure below, worked once on each panel of an ivory damask ground. It is designed for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
Design and symbolism
The cloth is ivory satin-faced with a tone-on-tone floral damask self-pattern, giving the ground texture without competing with the embroidery. Each panel carries a single compact scene rather than a repeating motif: a gold radiating star sits at the top-middle of the panel, and below it, flanked by white lily flowers, a small gold manger holds a pale swaddled figure resting on straw-coloured bedding. The reverse of the stole is plain, undecorated damask; the deep V opening at the back neck is visible but carries no separate motif of its own.
The star stands above the manger as the star of Bethlehem, the sign that led the magi to the place where the child lay. The lilies at either side echo the purity associated with the Virgin and with the newborn Christ, and the manger itself is the plainest possible statement of the Nativity: God's arrival not in a palace but in a feeding-trough, in straw.
Liturgical use
Ivory and gold place this stole in the white season, and its imagery narrows that further to Christmastide specifically: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and the Nativity-themed services that cluster around them. It is not built for Easter or Epiphany, both of which fall in the same white class but call for different imagery, nor for Advent, Lent or Ordinary Time.
Who it is for
A priest, pastor or minister leading a Christmas Eve vigil or Christmas Day service is the intended wearer. Because the scene is compact rather than full-length, it suits a minister who wants a Nativity stole that reads clearly from a distance without crowding the panel.
Length and fit
Standard finished length is 120 in (305 cm), end to end over both shoulders. Any length between 84 in and 120 in is made at the same price; beyond 120 in, $10 is added for every additional 5 in, up to 160 in. The product page will suggest a length once you enter your height, and you can override that suggestion with your own figure; your final length, height and any notes all carry through to your order.
