Ivory and Gold Ordination Priest Stole with Chalice, Keys and Grapevine Embroidery

The Ordination Stole is a priest's stole in ivory and gold, embroidered with the two images that define the ministry a man enters on the day he is ordained: the chalice of the Eucharist and the keys of the Kingdom. It is made to order by The Clergy Couture and personalized with the year of ordination.

Design and symbolism

Each panel opens with a chalice crowned by a rising flame, set behind crossed keys — the Eucharist the priest will consecrate, and the keys entrusted to the Church in Matthew 16:19. Beneath them a grapevine climbs the length of the orphrey in curling scrollwork, its clusters and leaves recalling the vine and the branches of John 15. Near each hem, in gold script, the words Ordained 2026.

The whole design is worked in a single tone of gold against an ivory ground. That restraint is deliberate: the motifs stay legible from the back of a church and at the altar, where a busier scheme would read as clutter. A narrow woven gold galloon runs the full length of both edges and across the back yoke, and gold bullion fringe finishes each hem.

Liturgical use

Ivory and gold belong to the white liturgical class. This stole is intended first for ordination, a first Mass, and anniversaries of ordination. Because its imagery is Eucharistic rather than seasonal, it is equally correct wherever white or gold is worn — solemnities, feasts of Our Lord, and Masses of thanksgiving.

It is not intended for Advent or Lent, which call for violet; for Pentecost or Holy Week, which call for red; or for Ordinary Time, which calls for green.

Who it is for

The stole is cut in the priest's manner — worn straight down over both shoulders rather than across the body — which makes it suitable for a newly ordained priest, a seminarian preparing for ordination, or anyone giving a vestment as an ordination gift. The back is finished with a shaped yoke so the panels sit flat across the shoulders and hang evenly on either side.

It is worn over the alb and cincture, beneath the chasuble at Mass, or over cassock and surplice for other rites.
