Overview
What this piece is
Green velvet-look stole embroidered with a running vine of small crosses, grapevine leaves and wheat sheaves, gathered around a gold cornucopia. For Communion through Ordinary Time and for harvest or thanksgiving services.
Symbolism
Wheat and grapes stand for the bread and wine of the Eucharist. The gold cornucopia spilling fruit is a harvest sign of abundance and thanksgiving. Small crosses running the length keep the design rooted in the cross throughout.

Details
About this stole
The Harvest Stole is a priest's or pastor's stole in green velvet-look cloth, each panel bordered in gold galloon and embroidered the full length with a running sequence of small crosses, grapevine leaves and bundled wheat sheaves, gathered low on each panel around a gold cornucopia spilling fruit worked in several colours.
Design and symbolism
Both panels carry the same design. A column of small gold crosses runs from the yoke to the fringe, threaded through with grapevine leaves and wheat sheaves, and the gold cornucopia sits as the visual anchor near the base, its fruit picked out in more than one colour against the surrounding goldwork. Wheat and grapes are the oldest Eucharistic pairing in Christian embroidery, standing for the bread and wine of Communion; the cornucopia adds a harvest note of abundance that the wheat and grapes alone do not carry.
The reverse of the stole is a plain gold satin panel, visible only at the neck yoke when the stole is worn; from the front, the eye reads green velvet, gold thread and, at the ends, gold fringe.
Liturgical use
Green is the colour of Ordinary Time, the long uncounted weeks of the church year that fall outside Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter, and this stole is built for the Sundays that make up that season. It also suits a Harvest Festival or Thanksgiving service, which many parishes keep within Ordinary Time and in green for that reason, though some traditions give the day its own festal colour instead - ask before assuming which your parish follows. It is not a stole for Lent or Advent, which call for violet, nor for Easter or Christmas, which call for white and gold.
Who it is for
A priest, pastor or minister presiding at Communion through the Sundays of Ordinary Time, or leading a harvest or thanksgiving service who wants the wheat and grapes to carry the theme without a note in the bulletin explaining it. It also makes a considered gift for a minister known for a rural or agricultural parish, or for a harvest-focused ordination.
Length and fit
Standard finished length is 120 in (305 cm), measured end to end over both shoulders, and any made-to-measure length from 84 in to 120 in costs the same as standard. Past 120 in, $10 is added for every further 5 in, up to 160 in. Enter a height on the product page and it will suggest a length; you can overwrite the suggestion, and whatever you enter travels through to your cart, checkout and order.
