Details
About this cassock
A charcoal cassock robe with a gold shoulder yoke and silver cuff bands, cut to pair with a gold stole worked in loaves and fishes.
The cut
The robe is a straight full-length cassock closing down the centre front, with a shaped gold yoke across the shoulders and collar that comes to a shallow point at the centre back. Two silver bands sit above each cuff, and there is a flapped hip pocket marked with a small silver fish. The skirt is cut full enough to move in and has a centre vent through the back. Sleeves are long and straight. No belt, no hood.
The stole
The matching stole is gold, edged in silver-grey, and carries the loaves and fishes worked in silver low on each tail: the sign of the feeding of the five thousand and, through the Greek word ichthys, one of the oldest emblems of Christ. A third motif sits at the neck. The stole hangs to the same depth as the robe's skirt break.
Cloth and finish
Both pieces are made in cotton with a matte face. The charcoal is a true dark grey rather than a washed-out black, which is what lets the gold yoke read as gold rather than as yellow, and the silver work stays legible from the back of a church instead of disappearing into the body of the robe.
Robe only, or robe and stole
The Style dropdown decides what ships. Robe Only is the charcoal cassock with its gold yoke, silver cuff bands and fish pocket. Robe + Stole adds the loaves and fishes stole shown in the photographs and adds $80 at every size code. The photographs show the pair.
Who wears it
Charcoal is a neutral that carries no seasonal claim, which makes this robe useful year round and particularly at services where a strong liturgical colour would be out of place: hospital and prison chaplaincy, school and university chapels, and civic or memorial services. The loaves and fishes are also a natural fit for harvest, food bank and community meal services.
Size and fit
The robe is cut to fourteen graded size codes, each pairing a chest measurement with a finished length. S covers a 34-37in chest, M 38-41in, L 42-45in, XL 46-49in and 2XL 50-53in; the number after the letter is the robe length in inches from the nape of the neck to the hem. Made to Measure is priced at the same step as the L sizes and cut to your own figures.
