Details
About this cassock
A dusty rose cassock robe with silver crosses embroidered down the front panels, a silver-fringed chest panel and a cream band at the hem.
The cut
The robe is a straight full-length cassock with a stand collar and a row of covered buttons running the length of the centre front. Silver crosses are embroidered in a vertical line down each side of the placket, and a fringed silver panel sits across the chest above the waist, which is what gives this robe its presence from the pulpit without adding a separate stole. A cream band finishes the hem. Sleeves are long and straight. The back is cut plain with a centre vent through the skirt.
Cloth and finish
Made in cotton with a matte face. Dusty rose is a muted, greyed pink rather than a bright one, which is what keeps it reading as the liturgical rose of Gaudete and Laetare rather than as a fashion colour. The silver work holds its brightness against the muted ground and stays legible from the back of a church; the cream hem band warms the whole rather than cutting it with white.
Robe only, or robe and stole
The Style dropdown decides what ships. Robe Only is the cassock as photographed, with its embroidered crosses and fringed chest panel. Robe + Stole adds a separate matching stole cut from the same cloth and worked in the same silver, and adds $80 at every size code.
Who wears it
Rose is worn on two Sundays in the Western calendar and on no others: Gaudete, the third Sunday of Advent, and Laetare, the fourth Sunday of Lent. On both, the colour marks a pause in a penitential season, which is why it is worn rarely and noticed when it is. A rose robe is therefore a considered purchase for a priest, pastor or minister who keeps the calendar closely, and many congregations own only one.
Size and fit
The robe is cut to fourteen graded size codes, each pairing a chest measurement with a finished length. S covers a 34-37in chest, M 38-41in, L 42-45in, XL 46-49in and 2XL 50-53in; the number after the letter is the robe length in inches from the nape of the neck to the hem. Made to Measure is priced at the same step as the L sizes and cut to your own figures.
