How to measure

Use a soft tape, level and not pulled tight.

  • A - Neck: around the base of the neck where the collar sits, one finger under the tape.
  • B - Chest: around the fullest part, under the arms.
  • C - Sleeve: centre back of the neck, over the shoulder, down to the wrist bone.
  • D - Back length: from the collar seam at the back of the neck down to where you want the hem.

Details

About this shirt

A burgundy clergy shirt with a tall Roman tab collar and a covered front placket, for priests, deacons, pastors and ministers. Choose long or short sleeves from the Sleeve menu. The shirt is sold without a collar insert, so it takes the white tab you already wear; the tab in the photographs is shown for styling only.

01

The cut

A crisp burgundy stand-up band collar with a standard tab opening at the centre front. Below it the buttons are hidden under a covered placket, so the front reads as one clean line of burgundy, with a single chest pocket on the left. The back has a shoulder yoke with a centre pleat for room across the shoulders, and the hem is a curved shirt tail that stays tucked. The regular fit leaves room for long days and for wearing under vestments.

02

Long or short sleeve

The long-sleeve shirt has buttoned barrel cuffs and is the more formal choice, worn under a jacket and for meetings and formal occasions. The short-sleeve shirt ends just above the elbow, for warm weather, hospital and school visiting, and wear under an alb.

03

About the collar

No collar insert is included. Slip any standard tab insert into the opening to wear it as a clergy shirt; without one the collar reads as a plain burgundy band.

04

Who wears it

Burgundy carries no rank; it is a personal choice for clergy who want a richer colour than black without the associations of red or purple. It pairs well with a charcoal or navy jacket. If your church has its own custom about shirt colours, follow it.

05

Size and fit

Sized by collar (neck) size from 14.5 to 19 in, each with a matching chest, sleeve and back length; the size guide shows the full row for every size. If you fall between sizes, or want a longer sleeve or body, choose Made to Measure and give us your own figures.

FAQs

Before you order

Does the shirt come with a collar insert?

No. The shirt is sold on its own, without the white tab insert. The collar has a standard tab slot at the front, so it takes the tab insert you already use. Without an insert the collar reads as a plain black band.

How do I choose my size?

Choose your usual dress-shirt neck size, then check the chest and sleeve on the same row of the size guide. If your neck and chest fall on different rows, size by the neck so the collar closes comfortably, or choose Made to Measure and give us your figures.

How does Made to Measure work?

Select Made to Measure and enter your neck, chest, sleeve and height in the measurement fields on the page. The shirt is cut to those figures. Made to Measure is $70, the same as the larger standard sizes.

How long will my shirt take to arrive?

Orders are dispatched within 5 to 7 days. Delivery then takes 10 to 15 days to the United States, or up to 21 days to the UK, Europe and the rest of the world. Rush shipping, chosen at checkout, shortens delivery to 5 to 7 working days in the US, or up to 8 working days elsewhere. All times are estimates.
